Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform development easily and surely in non-contact development by forming the alternating electric fields between the plate-like objects facing each other, scattering and charging an insulating magnetic developer of one component type by the alternating electric fields and charging the developer to a uniform and the desired charge quantity. CONSTITUTION:A magnet M and a sleeve 2 are rotated in the same direction to carry an insulating magnetic developer of one component type out from a hopper 3 and to convey the same to the part facing a charging member 5 superposed with DC voltage by an AC power source V and a DC power source E. The toner is scattered in the space 6 by the alternating electric fields and is charged by the sleeve or the charging member or the friction by the collision against the toner particles. When the toner is charged to a constant charge quantity, it is attracted and held electrostatically and magnetically on the sleeve. Therefore, the toner layer of the uniform charging quantity is formed on the sleeve.
