Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform sealing without causing the disturbance of orientation and foam by injecting a preheated liquid crystal into a cell which is heated to above the temp. of said liquid crystal then coating a sealant in the injection port and sealing said port. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal cell is heated to at least 80 deg.C or above (90- 130 deg.C), and a liquid crystal heated to 60-65 deg.C is injected therein. This injection is accomplished by utilizing the difference in the atmospheric pressures in and out of the cell. After the injection, the liquid crystal is temporarily heated and therefore it turns isotropic. This reduces the injection time and makes the generation of foam in the cell difficult. After the liquid crystal is thoroughly injected, the liquid crystal stuck near the injection port is removed without pressurizing the cell, and a sealant is coated in the injection port. Upon cooling of the cell, the sealant introduces into the injection port and sets. Since the liquid crystal turns isotropic temporarily after the injection, the need for an aging stage is eliminated. Also, the need for a stage of forcing out the liquid crystal by pressurizing the cell is eliminated.
