Abstract

PURPOSE: An aqueous solution of sulfate or phosphate salt is brought into contact with the outside wall of a container filled with a heat-storing material containing calcium chloride hexahydrate to form a water-insoluble calcium salt (white precipitate), thus making easy to find its leakage with eyes.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of water-soluble sulfate such as zinc sulfate or sodium sulfate, phosphate such as potassium phosphate, carbonate such as sodium carbonate, oxalate, silicate, metaborate, citrate, succinate, tartarate, sulfide or hydroxide, preferably of 5W20wt% concentration, is brought into contact with the outer wall of a vessel filled with a heat-storing material containing calcium chloride hexahydrate to form a white, water-insoluble precipitate, whereby the leakage of the heat-storing material is detected.
EFFECT: The location of leaking places can be readily decided. Further, this white precipitation is quickly formed and the leaking inspection is completed in a short time. Since the white precipitate is stable for a long period of time, gradual leakage also is detectable.
