Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatize the detection of body-cracked grain, by providing a transparent face on the bottom face of a chute and arranging a detecting apparatus of quantity of light on the upper and lower parts of the transparent face and then, constituting the apparatus so as to intermittently intercept received light or irradiated light. CONSTITUTION:Unhulled grains flowing down to a vibrating corn sending chute 3 from a supply hopper 5, is allowed to flow slowly in the chute by vibrating action of the chute 3 and is passed on a transparent face 7. Meanwhile, light irradiating the corn grain on the face 7 by an incandescent lamp of a light source 9, is intermittently passed through each slit 13 of rotating disk 14 of a light intercepting apparatus 12 and one corn grain on the face 7 is intermittently irradiated while dividing its face in ten divisions. Further, the variation of quantity of light by the body- cracked face is converted into the variation of voltage and said voltage is inputted into a detection controlling circuit 20. Then, comparison discrimination of the variation of the quantity of light at every division is made clear by a divisional detection and the body-cracked grain is surely discriminated by the number of its abnormal variations. By such construction, the detection of body cracked grain can be automatized.
