Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an ultrasonic probe in a suitable way, by exposing a piezoelectric vibrating element which is used to provide a matching layer, from the surface of said layer. CONSTITUTION:A piezoelectric element 2a is stuck to a packing material 2b and cut with a prescribed width, and a piezoelectric vibrating element 2g is provided at both ends of the material 2b. Then a spacer 2e is put on the elements 2g, and a holding plate 2d is provided on the spacer 2e to form a space 2f which forms a matching layer. After this, a mixture material of an adhesive of epoxy resin, etc. and the tungsten powder, etc. is poured into the space 2f to form the matching layer that has the prescribed acoustic characteristics after the hardening. Then the mixture material is hardened, and the plate 2d and the spacer 2e are removed to complete a matching layer.
