PURPOSE:To cope with the trouble of a main sensor with a simple program, by switching outputs of main and auxiliary speed sensors through a switching circuit and inputting them to a processing circuit in the car speed detecting device. CONSTITUTION:Normally, a terminal A of a microcomputer 1 is in an L level, and a terminal B is in an H level. When a main speed sensor S1 is turned on and off at a period corresponding to the speed, the signal level of an interrupt request signal input terminal iRQ is switched by the switching mode of a transistor TR1. Intervals between generation times of interrupt signals are sampled in accordance with a program to operate a car speed. When the sensor S1 is faulty, terminals A and B are in the H level and the L level respectively by a program, and an interrupt signal is generated at the terminal iRQ by turning-on and off of an auxiliary sensor S2. The speed signal is converted to an oil pressure by a converter 2 to shift an automatic change gear 3.
