PURPOSE:To easily adjust the load setting of a spring in a shock absorber, by supporting its coil spring with a cylinder side spring seat, integrally forming a bar-shaped tool stopper part to a flange part of said spring seat and turning the spring seat with a bar-shaped tool. CONSTITUTION:When adjustment is desired to change the load setting of a coil spring 13, a bar-shaped tool 24 of screw driver or the like is inserted to tool stopper parts 25 in a flange part 26 formed to the cylindrical main unit 27 of a cylinder side spring seat 10. Under this condition, if the tool 24 is turned prying to the direction of an arrow head, turning torque is applied to the spring seat 10, then a stopper protrusion 17 of its lower end cam face 16 rides across a stopper 26, and the next stopper protrusion 17 is stopped to the stopper 26. In consequence, the seat 10 is moved axially to a cylinder 1, then the setting of a load to the coil spring 13 can be adjusted.
