Abstract

PURPOSE:To recover the light transmissivity of an optical fiber which has turned yellow owing to irradiation with radiation, such as X rays gamma rays and decreased in light transmissivity, by causing light emitted from a light source, such as a halogen lamp, to illuminate the end surface of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:On the end surface 1a of an optical fiber bundle 1 for image transfer which has turned yellow owing to radiation of X rays, etc., and then decreased in light transmissivity, light emitted from a light source 2 is focused through a rotary elliptic mirror 3. The light source 2 uses, for example, a 150w halogen lamp and is turned on for 15min, 30min, 1hr, 2hr, and 10hr, and then its light transmissitivity is recovered gradually up closely to light transmissivity before radiation irradiation by 10hr light incidence. The yellow color comes off. Thus, the light transmissivity of the optical fiber having decreased in light transmissivity is recovered, and a recovering device is obtained.
