Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a voice packet converter which is capable of an economical connection to a PSN (Packet Switch Network), by storing a voice circuit and a data terminal circuit and multiplexing them into a subscriber line. CONSTITUTION:When a voice is transmitted from a TEL via a voice circuit 5A, a VOIPAC (Voice Packet Converter) 19 converts the voice into packets bO-bN through a converting circuit 10A and detects these packets by a packet detecting circuit 12. In case the packet a1 is sent from a PT (Packet Terminal), the packet sent from the circuit 10A is stored temporarily in an FIFO (First-in/First-out) buffer. The packet section which is sent to a PSN (Packet Switch Network) from the PT via a line 7A is detected by the circuit 12, and then the clock to be sent to the PT is discontinued to prevent the transmission of the next packet. At the same time, the packet sent from the circuit 10A and stored in a FIFO11 is sent to the PSN via an AND gate 15B, an OR gate 14 and a line 6A.
