Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain the storage of both the data and voice with a subscriber line, by inserting a voice packet converter (VOIPAC) to the subscriber line between a telephone set and an exchange network as well as to a data terminal. CONSTITUTION:A voice which is transmitted from a TEL via a voice circuit 5A is converted into packets b0-bn by a converting circuit 10A and is detected by a packet detecting circuit 12. In case a packet a1 is transmitted from a packet terminal (PT), a disuse pattern meaning the disuse of the data is inserted to the packet sent to a packet exchange network (PSN) via a line 6A from the circuit 12 via an OR gate 13. Then the packet sent from the circuit 10A is sent to the PSN via the line 6A. Furthermore the circuit 12 detects that the voice from the TEL has been discontinued, and the line 6A is connected between a first-in/first- out (FIFO) buffer 11A connected to a line 7A and the PSN. Thus the packet a1 stored in the FIFO11A is transmitted again.
