Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish coal deashing at a low cost and at a high deashing rate, by fluidizing a pulverized coal in a fluidized layer, agglomerating only ash by spraying an aq. alkali soln., and separating a coal component from the ash based on the difference in specific gravity.
CONSTITUTION: A coal is pulverized and the obtd. pulverized coal is supplied to fluidized layer body 1. Fluidizing gas 4 is supplied via flow distributor 3 provided on the bottom of the body 1 into the fluidized layer by blower 2, and compressed air 5 and aq. alkali soln. 6 are atomized through spray means 7. Thus the ash isolated from the pulverized coal is agglomerated by the action of the aq. alkali soln. 6 and the agglomerated ash moves to the fluidized layer bottom because of its larger specific gravity than an upwardly acting force due to the fluidizing gas 4. The deashed pulverized coal floats up to the top portion of the fluidized layer because of low specific gravity, so that it is possible to easily separate the agglomerated ash from the deashed pulverized coal.
