Abstract

PURPOSE:To synthesize a character of fixed size in a character synthesizing device for preparation of characters, symbols, etc. that are not found in a character metarix plate by storing and displaying a paneling line in a whole system memory and synthesizing characters in this paneling line. CONSTITUTION:A monitor device 16 is attached to a photo-type setting machine. When an instruction is given from a controlling circuit 8 to a system controller 21 for controlling the whole monitor device 16, a character image is imputted monitor camera 18 through a half mirror 17, this data is stored in a single character memory 20 by a controller 19 through an A/D conversion and further in a whole system memory 22 through the controller 21. Hereupon, memory positions also are moved every printing and the controller 21 transfers a part of the memory 22 and data of the memory 20 to video memory 23. When a synthetic character signal is given into the controller 21, a paneling line is stored in the position corresponding to the optical axis of the memory 22, transferred to the memory 23 and displayed by display controller 24 through D/A conversion to synthesize, display and print the character in the paneling line.
