Abstract

Information is displayed in color on a raster by supplying luminance data for dot elements in the lines and color data for the color of contiguous dot elements in sub-arrays less than a complete line long. Thus the storage required for the color data plus the luminance data is reduced, yet it permits a variation of color within a line. The system includes a data memory (2) for the luminance data for the dot elements, a (smaller) auxiliary memory (3) for the color data, and control means (1) controlling the addressing of the memories and the operation of logic means (flip-flops 9-12, gates 7, 8, 17, 18, 27, 28) to generate from the data signals operating the display. <IMAGE>
