Abstract

PURPOSE: To decompose a cation exchange resin easily even at a room temp. by coexisting iron ion and/or chromium ion and H2O2 in said cation exchange resin.
CONSTITUTION: Especially, to a cation exchange resin used in purifying a cooling water of a nuclear reactor in an atomic energy decomposition or treating a waste water, a solution in which an iron ion source such as ferric nitrate or the like and/or a chromium ion source such as chromium nitrate and H2O2 are coexisted is contacted. As the result, the cation exchange resin is decomposed even at a room temp. and a minute amount of iron ion and/or chromium ion is remained in a solution after decomposition but an acid solution with a low concn. can be formed. Rather, as an acid conc. is lowered, the decomposition becomes faster and, therefore, treatment of a waste liquid is made easy. Further, in the aforementioned contact reaction, a decomposition time can be easily shortened by heating.
