Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve efficiency and work rugged patterns on the entire circumferential surface of a cylindrical member with simple construction by making the cylindrical member and a core die integrally rotatable.
CONSTITUTION: Prior to quenching, an extruded cylindrical material A is placed in a home position on a female die 1 in an ordinary temp. or heated and softened state, thence a barlike core die 2 of the same sectional shape is fitted into the through-hole of the material A. Thence, a male die 4 with a rugged pattern die 3 is lowered and a rugged pattern B is pressed onto the material A. Next, the male die 4 is moved upward and the die 1 downward, thence the die 2 and the material A are rotated integrally at a required angle. Next, the die 1 is moved upward, and the material A is placed in a home position on the die 1, after which the die 4 is lowered to repeat pressing the rugged pattern B on another position of the material A; thereafter the die 2 is removed from the material A.
