Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the unstability of the steering handle operation by stopping the pump drive and changing the steering to the manual steering in the high speed region. CONSTITUTION:In the high speed region a magnetic clutch 10 is de-energized as a car speed detection switch 14 is turned off, and therefor a pulley 11 only run idle without driving a pump 6. Thus, when a steering handle is perated no hydraulic assit acts on a piston 4 of a power cylinder 3 as there is no oil supply from the pump 6 although a control valve 5 is changed over. However, the piston 4 rotates a pinion 8 via a rack 7 to drive a steering like 8a as it is thread engaged with an input shaft 2. When the car speed is reduced and the car speed detection switch is turned on the normal power steering action is performed by receiving the power assist.
