Abstract
PURPOSE: To increase the amt. of production of gases by collecting the initial settling basin sludge and excess sludge produced from a sewer treatment plant separately, and anaerobically treating the excess sludge at 5W7pH then mixing with the preheated initial settling basin sludge and anaerobically treating the same at 7W8pH thereby gasifying the sludge.
CONSTITUTION: The initial settling basin sludge and excess sludge produced in a sewer treatment station are collected separately, and the excess sludge is charged into a fermentation tank 1, where it is held at 30W60°C at 5W7pH and is anaerobically treated with facultative anaerobes, whereby high polymer materials are turned to low polymer materials and are converted to org. acids. On the other hand, the initial settling basin sludge is introduced into a mixing tank 2, where it is mixed with the digestion sludge separated in a solid-liquid sepn. tank 6 at 0.5W5 org. material weight ratios based on 1 of the sludge. After the mixture is preheated, it is introduced into a digesting tank 3. At the same time, the slurry formed in the above-described tank 1 is also introduced into the tank 3, where it is anaerobically fermented at 7W8pH. The produced methane is measured with a gas measuring device 4, and is stored in a gas holder 5.
