Abstract

PURPOSE: To smooth the circulation of sewage and to prevent the clogging of filter beds by providing a pair of flow transfer pipes which return the sewage contg. the sludge stripped from filter beds to a separation tank and transfer the sewage from the separation tank to an aeration and decomposition tank.
CONSTITUTION: A sepn. tank 1 and an aeration and decomposition tank 2 are communicated with a pair of flow transfer pipes 9, 9', and the pipes 9, 9' are opened in the upper part of the tank walls in an aeration chamber 5 in such a way that their upper and lower positions differ. The sewage through a lead-in pipe 3 enters the tank 1 then an aeration and diffusion tank 2, thence it enters an aeration chamber 5 through filter beds 8. Here, the sewage is flowed upward along circulation lines 11, 11' by air diffusion pipes 7, 7' for aeration. When the microorganisms filsm stuck on the filter beds 8 are removed with an air diffusion pipe 14 for backwashing the sewage, the sewage contg. sludge is flowed upward and is returned into the chamber 1 through the pipe 9 on the lower side. Also, the amt. conforming to the sewage entering the chamber 1 through the pipe 9' on the upper side is fed into the tank 2. Thereby, the clogging of the filter beds 8 is prevented.
