Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform treatment of waste water contg. nitrogen oxide easily by adding a reducing agent to said waste water then controlling its pH and liquid temp. and distillating the ammonia formed by reduction.
CONSTITUTION: A reducing agent, for example, Al or Zn, is added into waste water contg. nitrogen oxides contg. NO3 -, NO2 -. Thence, the pH of the soln. is controlled to ≥12 with a caustic alkali and the liquid temp. is maintained at about ≥50°C, whereby the NO3 - and NO2- in the waste water are reduced to NH3. Further, the formed NH3 is discharged to the outside of the system by blowing steam or nitrogen. An acid is added to the soln. removed of N obtd. in this way to control the same to the pH conforming to a water effluent standard. The formed precipitate is filtered out and the filtrate is discharged.
