Abstract
PURPOSE:To heat slabs uniformly by heating the slabs with the combustion gas from a burner, and heating the slabs from below as well by means of tubular burners having combustion holes provided on a hearth or the underframe of a hearth. CONSTITUTION:Slabs 6 are heated with the combustion gas from a burner 2, and the slabs 6 are heated from the lower part with the combustion gases from tubular burners 10a, b, c having combustion holes provided on a hearth or the underframe placed on the hearth. More specifically, the combustion gases are blown out in a horizontal from the burners 10, and the combustion gas from the burners 10 ascend on account of the density difference from the ambient atmosphere which is intrinsically low temp. parts right after the blowing out; at the same time, they are sucked by the draft force from a waste gas flue 8 and therefore, the gases flow in the direction of the flue 8. In this way, the combustion gases from the burners 10 heat the low temp. areas of the slabs 6 at about the same degree as in the high temp. area.
