Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform the effective utilization of converter slag and the recovery of base metal easily by conveying a cooling vessel which has discharged converter slag to the thickness of the extend at which cracks are produced, rotating the same with a rotary table after the solidification of the converter slag, separating the base metal while grinding the converter slag and feeding the same to a cooling shop. CONSTITUTION:The converter slag discharged from a converter 3 is discharged directly into a cooling vessel 1 placed on a slag receiving carriage 2, and the carriage is drawn out from below the converter 3 on rails 4. After the converter slag in the vessel 1 is allowed to cool until it solidifies (for 30-35min), the vessel is conveyed from the carriage 2 and is placed on a rotary table 6 by means of a crane 5. Next, a driving device 15 is driven to rotate the table 6 80-180 deg., so that the solidified converter slag is stripped from the vessel 1 by rotating force and gravity and crushed; in addition, it is crushed by a grizzly 16, whereby the base metal is separated and is collected with a chute 17. This is placed in a carriage 19 and is discharged into a slag pan 18. Next, at every storage of a constant amt. of the discharged converter slag, the pan is drawn out with the carriage 19, is loaded on a conveyor such as a wagon and is conveyed to a cooling shop.
