Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled water-soluble compound, useful as an anti-inflammatory external agent, etc., having improved stability to light, hydrogen ion concentration, etc., and prepared by including a glucide corticoid in cyclodextrin.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A glucide corticoid, e.g. betamethasone, and (B) cyclodextrin, e.g.β-cyclodextrin, are dissolved in water under heating, and reacted with stirring at room temperature. The formed precipitate is then filtered, and dried under reduced pressure to give the aimed compound. The resultant compound is dissolved in a mixed solution of water with ethanol (1:1 by volume), and the absorbance is measured in the ultraviolet region (241 nm) to determine the inclusion ratio. The ratio is 2 moles β-cyclodextrin and 3 moles γ-cyclodextrin based on one mole component (A).
EFFECT: The clathrate compound has a higher solubility than the component (A) by the measurement of the dissolving behavior (in water, 25°C) by the rotating disc method.
