Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the checking and maintenance of a reciprocating engine and heighten its performance and reliability, by providing a mechanism for preventing the rotation of the piston and exhaust valve, so that the mechanism is located in a section of low temperature. CONSTITUTION:A piston 1 is provided with a hole 31 which has a rectangular cross section as shown in a sectional view indicated by arrows A. The end of a piston rod 32 is inserted into the hole 31. The piston 1 is coupled to the piston rod 32 by a rotation-preventing mechanism consisting of the hole 31, the end of the piston rod and nuts 33, 34. Pins 23 are provided on the tips of anchoring members 17 and inserted into the guide grooves 23 of the piston 1. As a result, a spring ring 16 is enabled to slide only in the axial direction of the piston 1. For that reason, a scratching pheneomenon and powdery chips are prevented from being caused or made. Since the rotation-preventing mechanism is located in a low-temperature section, checking, maintenance and assembly are facilitated.
