If the element 51 is in failure, the switching circuit 71 drives a light emitting element 52 in an oscillated wave length lambda2. The optical signal in the wave length lambda2 is transmitted to the device 11, and outputted at a fiber 41k at a brancher 44 and received at a photodetector 54c. This detection signal is given to a controller 12, the switching of a reproduced output is detected at a diagnosis display circuit 72, and a terminal device number is displayed.
