Abstract

PURPOSE: To rectify an inclination of a main body of the scraper smoothly with a simple construction, by a method wherein a long shaft connected directly to a motor for travelling is connected with wheels through friction plates, and piston rods are extended while keeping them abutted on stoppers.

CONSTITUTION: The main body 12 of the scraper is stopped at a position slightly beyond a travel finish position, and a brake gear 40 is operated to fix the wheels 16. In this condition, a hydraulic pressure is supplied to hydraulic cylinders 30 to extend the piston rods 28, which are then further extended to the full stroke length thereof while keeping them abutted on fixed stoppers 32. As a result of extending the piston rods 28, the wheels 16 move on rails 14 to return the main body 12 to its normal position. In this case, when torques in excess of those generated by the compressive forces of springs 52 are exerted on the wheels 16 during the movement thereof, the friction plates 48, 50 will slide. Accordingly, the wheels 16 rotate independently of the long shaft 38 which is braked by the brake gear 40, so that a skid between the wheels 16 and the rails 14 is prevented.
