Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:The fluorine-containing silicone monomer of formulaI(Rf is 1W20C perfluoroalkyl; X is Cl or lower alkoxy).
EXAMPLE: (1-Trifluoromethylethyl)dichloromethylsilane.
USE: Silicone resin. It has excellent oil resistance, freeze resistance and solvent resistance.
PROCESS: An olefin of formula II having perfluoroalkyl group is made to react with dichloromethyl hydrosilane in the presence of a palladium catalyst to afford the compound of formula III (a compound of formulaIwherein X is Cl), which is, if necessary, treated with a lower alcohol to obtain the compound of formula IV (R is lower alkyl). The use of the palladium catalyst is essential. The catalyst is, e.g. (RCN)2PdCl2-X3P, etc., and its amount is 10-5W10-2mol based on the olefin having pefluoroalkyl group.
