Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify the construction of a heat converter and heighten its conversion efficiency, by composing a heater of a permanent magnet and a rotary body which consists of an iron core and an electroconductive section and is rotated by the torque of a windmill, and by placing the heater in a heat-retaining water tank so that Jouel heat generated in the rotary body is transferred to water. CONSTITUTION:A heat converter employing wind power comprises a wind-mill 1 for changing the wind power into torque, stanchions 2, a vibration-absoring coupling 3 for the windmill, a transmission shaft 4, a heater 4, a heat-retaining water tank 6, stanchions 7, a water supply port 8, a hot water supply port 9 and a drain port 11. The heater 5 consists of a rotary body 51 and a permanent magnet 52 for applying magnetic field to the rotary body. The rotary body 51 consists of an iron core made of stratified silicon steel sheets of high magnetic permeability and an electroconductive section composed of copper sheets of high electric conductivity embedded in the radial grooves of the iron core and electroconductive rings which connect the upper and lower edges of the copper sheets to each other. When the rotary body 51 is turned by the torque of the windmill 1, fluctuating magnetic field intersects the iron core to cause an eddy current to flow in the electroconductive section to that Joule heat is generated in the rotary body. The generated heat is transferred to water in the tank 6 to heighten the temperature of the water.
