Abstract
PURPOSE:To reinforce a pin boss part in a piston cast with a ring tray groove, by applying the T6 treatment to only the periphery of the pin boss part. CONSTITUTION:Normal T5 treatment is applied to a piston 2 after it is cast, and then only a pin boss part 3 (pin hole part) is locally heated by high frequency induction heating, burner heating, etc., successively applied water quenching and annealing, then only the periphery of the pin boss part is performed T6 treatment. In this way, the T6 treatment can be applied to the pin boss part 3 without causing exfoliation of a ring tray groove part 1, then the pin boss part 3 can be reinforced.
