Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure flow of highly viscous fluid in small valume, by keeping a semi-circular orifice plate between upstream and downstream connecting flanges, and also by providing a surge detector on the downstream side in such a manner as to expose the tip section of the detecting member in the neighborhood of the center of a duct. CONSTITUTION:Between upstream and down stream connecting flanges 1a and 2a of a fluid duct, an orifice plate 5, which is provided with a pair of semi- circular flow paths 5c being symetrical with each other with a circle-crossing section on the center, is kept. On the downstream side of thus composed vortex generating device, an all-direction surge detector 6 is provided in such a manner that a screw section on the bottom end of a cylindrical main body 7 is screwed into a screw hole of a boss 8 provided on the wall of a piping 2, and a detecting rod 16 is arranged in such a manner that its tip section is exposed in the neighborhood of the center of the fluid duct in the piping 2. As it is possible, by doing so, to detect surge at high sensitivity in all directions, and therefore, it is possible to measure flow of fluid of high viscosity and low Reynolds number in small volume.
