Abstract
A transducer is described for determining flow rates, in which the mean flow rate is determined with the aid of ultrasonic signals. The liquid flows in this case through a measuring tube (1), one transducer each being arranged opposite the ends thereof at both ends. The ends of the measuring tube (1) have arrangements which influence the flow profile of the liquid. These arrangements consist of webs (2), which represent an extension of the tube wall of the measuring tube (1) and between which there are present interspaces (3) through which the liquid passes. Each web (2) has a leading edge (4) and two separation edges (5). Such an arrangement generates irrotational eddies in the liquid which improve the accuracy of measurement, in particular in the range of small loads. Transducers of this type can also be used for calorimetry. <IMAGE>
