Abstract

PURPOSE:To confirm the state of the read surface of an original by providing an image reader with a reading means of reading the read surface from above an original platen. CONSTITUTION:For copying, an operator mounts an original on an original platen 1 with its read surface up. When a button for copying start is pressed, a driving roller 8 is driven by a power source and a control part 16 to move an image readout part 18 as shown by an arrow 22 (subscanning direction). Consequently, image information on the original 21 is read successively by an image sensor 7. An image signal outputted form the image sensor 7 is processed by a signal processing circuit, whose output is supplied to an equipment body 23 through a supporting part 19. The image signal supplied to the equipment body 23 is supplied to a thermal head 11 through a thermal head driving circuit. Heat- sensitive recording paper 14 unrolled from a supply roll 13 is pressed against the thermal head 11 by a back roller 12 to perform heat-sensitive recording, and discharged to a recording-paper tray 15.
