Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a control device for a raster scanning type printer which is capable of reducing the overall printing time of a sheet of recording paper by judging the presence or absence of record information in each scan line and by feeding the sheet of record paper quickly for those scan lines where no record information exists.
CONSTITUTION: In a printer wherein the print surface of a recording head 2 having a length covering the overall width of a sheet of record paper 1 is caused to contact with the record paper 1, the record paper 1 is caused to move in the direction of sub scanning A (paper feeding) and printing is performed by giving print information on each raster scan line to the recording head 2, this device hudges the presence or absence of information to be recorded in each scan line and feeds the paper at a normal feeding speed for those scan lines where information to be recorded exists, and feeds the paper at a speed faster than the normal feeding speed for those scan lines where information to be recorded does not exist.
