Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the hardly dissipative property and melt-sticking resistance of the resulting electrical contact material and to make the electric conductivity almost equal to that of silver by providing a specified composition contg. titanium nitride, carbon and silver.
CONSTITUTION: This electrical contact material is a ternary material consisting of ≤40vol% titanium nitride, ≤20vol% carbon and the balance silver. This contact material is dissipated by a smaller extent as compared to a conventional electrical contact material, and it has superior melt-sticking resistance. Since the silver content of this material can be made considerably lower than that of the conventional material, the cost is reduced. This material is suitable for various electrical contacts, and especially it has superior suitability as the contact material of an electromagnetic switch for medium load.
