Abstract
PURPOSE:To effectively correct the distortion of a beam spot by forming a focussing lens system which weakens the degree of reduction related to the beam that makes landing in the range farther from an electron gun among the beams which are emitted from the electron gun and advance toward the main deflection system. CONSTITUTION:An end face plate 8 is provided on the end of electron gun 2 which is opposed to its final stage electrode, namely the vertical deflection means 7 of the fourth grid G4 and an electron beam penetrating hole 8a is perforated in it. The diameter phi of this penetrating hole 8a is selected to almost the same to the gap, on the beam incidence side, between a pair of electrostatic deflection plates 7a and 7b of a vertical deflection means 7. The gap between the end face plate 8 and the means 7 is selected also almost equal to the gap (d) on the beam incidence side of both electrode plates 7a and 7b. Besides, target voltage V0, for example, 5KV is applied to the fourth gride G4. This can effectively correct the distortion of a beam spot and reproduce a good quality picture without any picture distortion, degradation of resolution, and color shift.
