Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove the distortion of a beam spot in the vicinity of a screen by forming the electron beam passing window of an inline type electron gun into an oval or a rectangle which has a long axis in the vertical deflection axis direction. CONSTITUTION:The three cathodes K1-K3 are inline arranged in the horizontal axis direction and the control electrode G1, acceleration electrode G2, focusing electrode G3, and anode G4 are provided before each cathode. The electron beam generated at the cathodes K1-K3 is controlled by the control electrode G1. It passes through the acceleration electrode G2 and the focusing electrode G3 and arrives at the anode G4, then it reaches the fluorescent screen. The electron passing holes g31-g33 on the acceleration electrode 2 side of the focusing electrode G3 are formed into a lengthwise oval, i.e. an oval which has a long axis in the vertical axis direction. This prevents the beam spot in the vicinity of the screen of a picture tube from being distorted into an oval which is long in the horizontal or vertical direction.
