Abstract
PURPOSE:To make uniform the flow rate of a fluid into each of a plurality of heat transfer pipes and contrive to make uniform the heat exchanger as a whole, by providing a flow rate distributor at a lower plenum, particularly in an intermediate heat exchanger for a fast breeder reactor. CONSTITUTION:A secondary sodium coolant falling in the interior of a descending pipe 11 is fed into an introducing part 17 of the lower plenum 5 through a short pipe 21. The flow of the coolant is then passed through flow holes 19, 19 provided in a rectifying plate 20 of the flow rate distributor and is directed into the heat transfer pipes 7, 7 via an inflow part 18 for the pipes 7, 7. In this case, the flow holes 19 on the outer side have smaller diameters as compared with those on the inner side, so that the flow of the coolant into the inflow part 18 is uniformized and the flow rate into each of the pipes 7, 7 is uniformized. Accordingly, the amount of heat exchange at each of the pipes 7, 7 is uniformized, resulting in that localized thermal strain is not generated in the heat exchanger as a whole.
