Abstract

PURPOSE:To control a transfer electric field always to correct transfer conditions by controlling an electric power source applying the electric field to a transfer material according to the destaticizing current value flowing the electrostatic charge on the transfer material right after transfer to a grounding electrode. CONSTITUTION:A toner image is formed on the surface of a drum 1 having a photoconductive photosensitive layer 2, and is transferred onto a transfer material 4. The material 4 is fed with a pair of feed rollers 11, 12, a guide roller 13, etc., and receives a transfer electric field by a corona charger 5. After the transfer, the electric charge on the material 4 is destaticized through a grounding electrode 6. The electrode 6 is made of stainless steel or the like of, for example, 0.2mm., detects the destaticizing current value and is connected via an amplifier 9 to a high voltage power source 10. In accordance with the detected value, a high voltage power source 10 is controlled, so that the destaticizing current value flowing to the electrode 6 is made constant in spite of the environmental change of humidity, etc.
