Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the transmission time, by utilizing the high-speed performance of opposing device through the selection of a shrinking function, and provision of a reducing function with the device, when a recording speed per N-scanning lines designated from the transmission side is faster than the recording speed of itserlf. CONSTITUTION:A fascimile device is provided with a reducing device which is operated at transmission through the control of a system controller and shrinks the read-in video signal through interleaving or other method so that the result is suited to the width of the original of an opposing machine. The recording speed per N-scanning line designated from the transmission side is discriminated at the system controller, and if the recording speed of itself is slower than the requested speed at the transmission line, the reducing circuit is operated. This reducing circuit is provided with a switch designating necessary/unnecessary reducing operation and a circuit selecting the reduced video signal according to the designation of the switch, and the reduced video signal is selected, and the performance is suited to the high-speed performance of the opposing machine allowing to reduce the transmission time.
