Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent blow-up of lubricant oil by blow-by gas, by providing a bank around an opening end of a rocker room in a blow-by gas passage thereby completely separating the functions of an oil return passage and a blow-by gas. CONSTITUTION:A bank wall 11 is provided enclosing the opening end of a blow- by gas passage on the upper surface of a cylinder head 2. The bank wall 11 is made higher than the upper-most level of lubricant oil collected on the upper surface of the cylinder head 2. The lubricant oil that comes down and collects on the cylinder head 2 returns to an oil pan 3 through the oil return passage 5 without flowing into the blow-by gas passage 6 because of the bank wall 11. On the other hand, the blow-by gas that leaks out into the crank case 1a of a cylinder block 1 goes up through the blow-by gas passage 6 to be introduced into the rocker room 10 located above the cylinder head 2.
