Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce treating time and to eliminate the generation of thermal deformation, scale, etc. by performing the heat treatment of a hollow stabilizer through electrical conduction to part of the stabilizer body in place of heating in a furnace.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow stabilizer body 1 is formed of hollow materials having a root part 2 mounted to the body side of a vehicle, arm parts 3 of which the leading end parts are mounted to wheel sides, and curved parts 4 between the part 2 and the parts 3. In the case of heating only the parts 4 where max. stress is generated in general in order to make a heat treatment, electrodes 5, 6 are mounted on both sides in the longitudinal direction of the parts 4, and these are connected to an electric power source part 7. Electric current is applied between the electrodes 5 and 6 via the parts 4, whereby the parts 4 are heated.
