Abstract
PURPOSE:To remove stress concentration by engaging a flexible piston inner peripheral portion with a sleeve of a shell portion and clamping and retaining both sides thereof by a retaining member with liquidtight, and keeping the clamping surface from the side of a piston as it radially directs outwards. CONSTITUTION:A shell portion 120 fitted in the inside diameter portion of the body 110 of a frictional engagement apparatus 100 and fixed thereto by welding is supported on the inner peripheral portion 17 of a sleeve portion 11 by a boss portion 121. The inner peripheral portion of an elastic flexible plate 131 of a piston 130 is fitted on the cylindrical surface 123 of a sleeve 122. Retaining members 126, 127 are disposed on both sides near the inner peripheral portion, which are provided with contact pressure surfaces 126a, 127a formed in such a manner as to gradually separate from the side of the elastic flexible plate 131 as it radially directs outwards from the cylindrical surface 123. A seal member 129 is enclosed in the circumferential groove 127b of the retaining member 127.
