Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a compact illumination device which is not affected by heating of a light source and is superior in illumination efficiency, by making the light source, one end face of an optical fiber, the last aperture, and the other end face of the optical fiber conjugate and giving an optically equivalent form to them. CONSTITUTION:A condenser lens 31 and a lens 3 are connected optically by an optical fiber 30. One end face 30a of the optical fiber 30, a light source 2, the last aperture 6a, and the other end face 30b of the optical fiber 30 are conjugate and have an optically equivalent form. In this constitution, the light flux of the light source 2 is discharged from the last aperture 6a and reaches an eye E1 to be examined, and the eye E1 is illuminated in a slit and is observed from a direction different from the optical axis of illumination by a microscope 20. Thus, the bad influence of heating of the light source 2 is lessened, and the structure becomes compact, and the device is superiod in illumination efficiency independently of the form of the light source 2.
