Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize good illumination regardless of the change of magnification of image formation, by putting an optical element having the varying radius of the luminous flux between an illumination lens and a capacitor lens in a freely attachable/detachable way.
CONSTITUTION: A meniscus type auxiliary lens 18 is put between a reflector 17 and an objective lens 11 in a free attachement/detachment way. Owing to the lens 18, the beams given from a light source 14 are turned into substantially parallel luminous flux through an illumination lens 15 and reflected by the reflector 17. Then the diameter of the luminous flux is increased when it passes through the lens 18, and the luminous flux is condensed to a sample 10 through the lens 11. The beam reflected by the sample 10 is turned into substantially parallel luminous flux and formed into an image through a release lens 12 to be observed through an eyepiece 13. In such way the lens 18 is used when a high magnification ratio is required. The lens 18 is removed from the optical path when an objective lens of a low magnification ratio is used.
