Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a synthetic wood analogous to natural wood at low cost by a method in which a uniform mixture of a synthetic resin powder or granule and wood chips is charged into molds the inside of which is provided with a releasing agent film and molded by compressing and heating. CONSTITUTION:A releasing agent film or cloth 2 is provided on the upper and lower inner faces of molds 3, and then a uniform mixtuer of the powder or granule 11 of a synthetic resin (e.g., polyolefinic, polystyrenic, or polyurethanic resin), or a chemically modified polymer or copolymer of these, and an admixture 12 consisting of wood powder, granule, or chips is charged into the molds 3 and then melted and molded by compression and heating. After cooling, the releasing agent film or cloth is removed to obtain a synthetic wood 1. The preferred proportion of the wood admixture is 10-90wt% on the basis of the total amount of the charged materials. Also, a thermoplastic film 13 or a decorated paper film 14 may be provided between the mixture and the releasing agent film or cloth in order to make it more beautiful.
