Abstract
PURPOSE: To stabilize the air-fuel ratio by providing an empty chamber to close off the outer end of a branching tube which branches off from an intake passage between a throttle valve and an intake valve interlocked to the rotation of a cranckshaft.
CONSTITUTION: A branching pipe 23 is provided on an intake passage 13 between a carburetor 18 and an intake valve 22 interlocked to the rotation of a crankshaft 14, an empty chamber 24 being formed at the outer end of said branching pipe 23, the size of said chamber 24 being determined to have both the branching pipe 23 and the chamber 24 resonate with the particular frequency of the pressure fluctuation in the passage 13. When the flow of the air-cuel mixture from the carburetor 18 and the empty chamber 24 to a crankcase 11 is shut off by the intake valve 22, the air-fuel mixture from the carburetor 18 is filled into the down-stream side of a throttle valve 21 and the empty chamber 24 due to the intake negative pressure at the downstream side of throttle valve 21. The air-fuel mixture is rapidly introduced in the crankcase from the carburetor 18 and the empty chamber 24, and the air-fuel ratio of the carburetor 18 is stabilized by the alternate flow of the mixture from the carburetor 18 to the crankcase 11 and to the empty chamber 24.
