Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare 1-butene useful as a modifying material of polymers, etc., sufficiently smoothly even at a high reaction temperature, by the hydroisomerization of 2-butene with hydrogen containing hydrogen sulfide in the presence of a noble metal catalyst sulfurized with a sulfur compound.
CONSTITUTION: 1-Butene is prepared selectively by the isomerization of 2-butene, by contacting (A) 2-butene-containing hydrocarbons in hydrogen atmosphere containing about 50W1,000mol ppm of hydrogen sulfide or 2-butene-containing hydrocarbons added with a sulfur compound having a sulfur content of 0.01W 0.5wt% in the presence of hydrogen with (B) a catalyst obtained by treating a hydrogenation catalyst containing at least one noble metal of the VIII group element of the periodic table (pref. Pd) with hydrogen, and then contacting the treated catalyst with a sulfur compound such as hydrogen sulfide. The reaction temperature is 100W500°C.
EFFECT: The polymerization reaction does not take place, and the high activity of the catalyst can be maintained.
