Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the sulfuric acid resistance and activity sustaining characteristic for the treatment of SOx-contg. gases by depositing copper and/or iron on an activated silica alumina carrier having structure of lattice substitution type and contg. 40W60% alumina.
CONSTITUTION: Mixed hydrogels consisting of silica hydrogel and alumina hydrogel are dehydrated and activated, whereby an activated silica alumina carrier having structure of lattice substitution type and contg. 40W60% alumina is obtained. Copper and/or iron is carried on this activated silica alumina carrier, whereby the denitrating catalyst is formed. The resultant catalyst is able to provide a high rate of denitration even at relatively low temperatures, and said rate hardly lowers even after the catalyst has been treated with air contg. sulfuric acid vapors.
