Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a fireproof putty compsn. having excellent workability and shape-retaining property, by mixing chloroprene rubber, a water-insoluble inorg. filler contg. water of hydration and a heat-resistant fiber with a liquid chloroprene polymer.
CONSTITUTION: 1W35pts.wt. chloroprene rubber, 200W600pts.wt. water-insoluble inorg. filler contg. water of hydration and 15W100pts.wt. heat-resistant fiber are mixed with 100pts.wt. chloroprene polymer which is liquid at an ordinary temperature. Examples of said liquid chlorlprene polymers are unvulcanized liquid chloroprene copolymers and liquid chloroprene homopolymer having a viscosity of 1W200,000cps at an ordinary temp. (25°C) and an MW of 1,000W6,000. Examples of said water-insoluble inorg. fillers are hydrated alumina, hydrated magnesia and hydrated calcium silicate. Examples of said heat-resistant fibers are glass fiber, asbestos, rock wool and flame-retardant org. fibers.
