Abstract
PURPOSE:To ventilate an air layer in contact with the surface of a leaf by a method wherein a local aireddy is caused to occur over the surface of a fixed leaf. CONSTITUTION:A growing chamber 10 is a box made of a transparent material and divided into 8 chambers, while these chambers being separated by transparent separators 12 with a number of through holes 11. An intermediate tank is a sample chamber 13 containing a blade B of a plant, while upper and lower tanks are so constructed that both tanks as air-guiding chambers 14 are used to supply fresh air to the leaf 20. The upper and lower air-guiding chambers 14 each are provided with air-supplying ports for introducing fresh air, which is jetted out from the through hole 11. The blade B of the plant is arranged in parallel with the transparent separator 12. To make the sample chamber airtight, an inserting slit is filled with fillers and the like. The blade B is set in the growing chamber 10. When fresh air is supplied to the upper and lower air-guiding chambers 14 and when the air is discharged from an exhaust port 16, the fresh air is jetted out from the through hole 11 to the surface of the blade B vertically. Thus an aireddy is caused to occur above the surface of the leaf, so that an air layer in contact with the leaf is ventilated.
