Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the deformation of a support by a construction wherein a metal plate with a low melting point is buried in a cut portion provided in the longitudinal direction of a sectionally L-shaped metal plate which expands at high temperatues, and the support for supporting a mask is composed of bimetal by coupling both the metal plates together. CONSTITUTION:A cut portion is provided in the longitudinal direction of a metal plate 412 made of stainlss steel which expands at high temperatures, the metal plate being formed in an L shape. Next a metal plate 411 which expands at low temperatues such as invar is buried in the cut portion to form a bimetal structure by coupling both the metal plates together with the narrow side 44 and wide side 45 being combined. A hole 43 to be hooked by a panel pin is made in an end portion, and a shadow mask support 41 is formed by fastening the heat expanding metal plate 411 to the shadow mask frame at a welding point 42. Thus the mechanical strength of the support is largely improved.
